In my opinion, the peak of the automotive industry took place in the 70's, and more specifically in America.
In my freshman year of college, I was lucky enough to own a piece of American history myself. I searched for months on Craigslist for a good deal on a classic.
Finally I found her. My 1975 Chevrolet Camaro. I drove over an hour to check her out and see if she would be a good fit for me and a fun project. From the moment I laid eyes on her, I fell in love. She wasn't in the best shape and I will admit she had a bit of rust, but I was proud of her everywhere we drove.
I had big plans for her! After looking around I found a 383 stroker engine that I wanted to swap in her and positraction rear end with a high gear ratio. I had envisioned everything I wanted to do to fix her up to bring her back to her prime.
Unfortunately, being a college student, I did not have a garage to work on her and my dreams were a bit more expensive than I could afford. Even though money was tight, I didn't want to compromise and settle for cheaper parts or lower performance. In the end I sold her to another car enthusiast that I knew would be able to give her the love she needed. It was a sad day when I sold her but look forward to starting a new project one day down the road.
